I studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence, a town in southern France and kept this blog of all my adventures. While I was studying abroad, I traveled to many cities around France and, in addition, went to Italy, Greece, Spain and Portugal. “Arrête, c’est ici l’empire de la mort,” (Halt, here lies the empire of the dead), is written above the entrance leading to a dark, cave-like tunnel, or set of tunnels, I should say. It is here where Paris’s dark history is revealed.
Normally, when one sees a sign like this, they turn away, but for tourists in Paris today, one enters.
So. I. Leave. France. TOMORROW.
I think I need a hug, and the tears are already flowing.
France, vous me manquez déjà (Direct translation: you are missing from me already (real English translation: I already miss you)
So in honor of this, I have composed a list of some of my favorite French expressions that I have learned since being here.
It has been roughly a week since I entered Aix-en-Provence and France. I am finally adjusted to the time change and am still working on adjusting to the weather; to make a long story short, I am wishing I had brought a couple more jackets and thick scarves. February is the coldest month for Aix though so it will start warming up soon.
Saturday, some of my fellow classmates and I decided we were going to hike the infamous Montagne Staine-Victoire, a mountain made famous by painter Paul Cézanne.
