Moving Day!

The trailer was all packed up and it was 5 a.m. My dad had gotten up early and put all the stuff from the freezer into a cooler.

We were ready.

It was too late to turn back , so all that was left to do was look forward.

Now, I'm not going to lie; moving to Wyoming (and northeastern Wyoming nonetheless) terrified me. It still does. It has been my dream to be a journalism, and I just didn't think that I would have secured a job right after graduation. Everything happened so fast, and I'm pretty sure 98 percent of the people I said I was going to stay in contact with don't even know (Sorry Mary Vogl and Marie-Jo Hofmann); I'll catch up someday, maybe.

The month, or so I had between accepting my job and moving was a whirlwind, as everything is for Megan Fischer, so I don't really know why it was such a surprise to me. The week after I accepted my job was my last week of teaching at the Taekwondo center, which was what I occupied myself with as a second job during my last year of college. It was hard for me to leave a place that made me such a part of their family, but I am very grateful for the trust they put in me and all the support they gave me in my academic life.

During that week I was also packing for what I consider to be the greatest place on Earth (move over Disneyland), Sky High Hope Camp, a camp for childhood cancer patients and survivors , and their siblings. I attended this camp as a camper in 2004 and have only missed two years since then (one because I was in France, and the other because camp was canceled due to the High Park Fire outside of Fort Collins). I left for the week long camp that Saturday.

The week after that consisted of packing, packing and more packing, mixed in with attempting to say farewell to as many people as I could.

My dad came up Thursday, and we packed and packed and packed. We had Friday off(ish) and then we were off Saturday.

I had to stop in a town called Douglas to meet with a publisher, and then I finished my drive up to Gillette. We were there by noon, had the trailer and my car unloaded by 6 p.m. and there it was.

I had moved to Wyoming. Ready to start my next adventure.
